Colby Volunteer Scribes Information Session

September 8, 2015 • 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Location: Colby Program Room, Lower Level, Waterville Public Library

Learn about Alzheimer’s services

The Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter will present an overview of its programs and services, including a program documenting the life stories of persons with early stage dementia, on Tuesday, September 8, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., at the Waterville Public Library, 73 Elm Street in Waterville.

Those who attend this presentation can learn about the Maine Chapter’s upcoming Volunteer Scribes program, an initiative where specially trained Colby College students will interview and write the life stories of those living with early stage dementia. Persons diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or related dementias are being sought as participants in this program.

The September 8 program will also provide vital information about the Alzheimer’s Association’s many community-based programs and services to help those living with Alzheimer’s, as well as their care partners. These include comprehensive support groups, care consultations, and safety services.

The Volunteer Scribes program enables participants – those living with early stage Alzheimer’s - to provide meaningful insight about dementia to college students pursuing careers in health care. Potential participants will be screened for eligibility and participation will be completely private and confidential.

There is no cost to attend this presentation. Advance registration is recommended by contacting Peter Baker at the Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter at 772-0115 or by email: pbaker@alz.org.
