The Maine Poetry Express is an initiative of Maine Poet Laureate Wesley McNair and the statewide literary arts organization the Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance. The Maine Humanities Council has provided instrumental support to make the Maine Poetry Express a reality.  The Maine Poetry Express, a metaphoric train, is traveling to a series of 14 stops throughout the state. The intent is to celebrate flourishes of poetry in communities all around Maine.

The Waterville stop organizers are Colby College Special Collections, Waterville Main Street, and the Waterville Public Library.
