Waterville Public Library

Get Yourself a Library Card!

"When I got my library card, that's when my life began." ~ Rita Mae Brown, Contemporary American Author

There are multiple ways to get your own Waterville Public Library card. You can fill out the form (https://form.jotform.com/watervillepubliclibrary/librarycard), call us at 207-872-5433 for assistance, or drop by during operating hours to complete a physical registration form. Please bring photo identification and proof of current mailing address to the library to be issued a physical library card.

If you're a Waterville resident or a non-resident who has paid the fee, you can also use your card to request and check out physical items. When you come to pick up your order for the first time, make sure to bring your ID with you. We will give you your new Waterville Public Library card at that time.

Many people are eligible for a free Waterville Public Library card no matter where they live!

  • Waterville residents and property owners
  • Students and educators at Waterville schools
  • All people employed full-time by the City of Waterville government offices and their children
For children under 14, a parent or legal guardian must sign the registration form. By signing the form, the parent agrees to comply with library rules on behalf of the child.  There is no minimum age requirement for a children's card.

Acceptable forms of ID and proof of address:

* Driver's license or identification card
* Passport
* School ID
* Mail addressed to current address

***For digital-online only cards: bring in confirmation of your mailing address and identity in order to receive your card and fully activate your account!***

Waterville non-residents who live elsewhere in Maine may get a digital-online only card at no charge, but there will be a fee if they wish to borrow physical items from the Waterville Public Library:
  • $40 for a year
  • $25 for six months
  • $15 for three months
Waterville Public Library accounts expire once a year, prompting the staff to confirm your account and contact information is still correct. You can renew in person, by emailing librarian@watervillelibrary.org, calling 207-872-5433, or sending us a message over Facebook! Non-residents will have to pay their fees again at this time in order to renew their accounts. You will continue with the same card/account number, renewals do not change that.
