Patron Services Librarian Full-Time Position Opening

Patron Services Librarian:
Primary responsibilities include reference and reader’s advisory for patrons of all ages, supporting the advancement of digital literacy skills for all, program coordination, contributing to collection development and maintenance, mentoring part-time staff and volunteers, and serving as a member of the Library’s leadership team.

Demonstrates evidence of understanding the creative ways public libraries make the world better.
Holds the skills necessary to support a strong collection for our community.

Knowledgeable about research databases and reader’s advisory tools. 
Interested in current and emerging technologies.
Competent in the use of technologies that support library functions. 
Possesses a can-do attitude in technical problem-solving in Library applications.
Ability to help others develop their computer skills. 
Loves the challenge of the reference interview process.
Jazzed by tidiness and organization.
Strong contributor to program planning, delivery, evaluation, and coordination. 
Has an innovative and creative spirit.

Serves as a member of the library’s leadership and management team, including, at times, actively supervising the facility, patrons, volunteers, and part-time staff with an ability to lead teams effectively.
Interprets and communicates library policies and procedures for patrons and colleagues. Settles disruptions or disturbances per Library policy. 
Provides services to and maintains positive relationships with partners, schools, community organizations, and other groups.
Serves on community and professional committees to represent and advance the Library and profession. 
Contributes consistently and meaningfully to the safety of all.

This is a full-time (37.5 hours weekly), benefits-eligible position: health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a retirement plan. Work schedule varies, including days, evenings, and weekends. Preference will be given to a candidate with an ALA-accredited MLS or MLIS. Consideration will also be given to candidates without a degree with a minimum of two to three years of professional library work experience. Pay for this position is competitive.
